Sarah Mitton comes back to Madrid
Sarah Mitton, the ST World Champion (Glasgow, 2024) and AL World vice-champion (Budapest, 2023) in shot put, seeks to repeat victory in the final of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold (already did so in 2023), which will be held in Madrid on February 28, a world-class event that brings together the best athletes on the planet and promises to give us unique moments in Gallur.
In 2023, the Canadian athlete gave us a brilliant performance in Madrid with a best throw of 19.75 m to win the final of the WIT Madrid in front of the Gallur public, giving a masterclass in shot put. This competition served as a prelude to what was to come, as a few months later she became World vice-champion in Budapest, with a stratospheric throw of 20.08 m, only surpassed by the American Chase Jackson. In addition, this past year, she won the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, where she threw the shot up to 20.22 m to take the title against the best throwers on the planet. To this list of achievements we must add several victories in the prestigious Diamond League, including a victory in the 2024 final in the Belgian capital (Brussels, 20.25 m).
This year in Madrid, Mitton will be looking to break the 20 meters barrier in the shot put to repeat her 2023 victory and captivate the public once again. This event will be a crucial step for her in view of the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing where she could defend her world title.
Mitton's participation at the Madrid Meeting will give a major boost to a shot put event that has always stood out for its high level at WIT Madrid, with the presence of internationally renowned athletes. This event will also give fans the opportunity to see one of the world's best throwers take on her greatest competitors in a vibrant and exciting atmosphere.
