Young Torrie Lewis in Madrid
Torrie Lewis, a runner-up at the U20 World Championships in Lima 2024 in 200 m, will face the fastest women in the world in the final of the World Athletics Indoor Tour, which will be held in Madrid on February 28, a world-class event that brings together the best athletes on the planet and promises to give us unique moments in Gallur.
Australian Torrie Lewis has already become one of the best sprinters in the world at just 20 years old. Her 2024 season started off like a dream, lowering her personal best in the 100 m in January to 11.10, a national record and also a continental U20 record. Later, in August, she made her debut at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 at the age of 19, both in the 200 m, where she reached the semi-finals, and with the Australian 4x100 m relay. Her big moment came at the end of that same month, when she debuted her international record by finishing runner-up in the U20 World Championship in the 200 m in Lima 2024, beating her personal best in the 200 m (22.88).
Her 2025 season is turning out to be very interesting, having already participated in several top-class European meetings. She made her debut in the 60m indoor event in Belgrade just two weeks ago, setting a national record with her time of 7.14. This record, today, places her among the top ten world records, which demonstrates the level of this very young athlete. Likewise, a week ago she also broke her personal best in 200m, both indoor and outdoor, at the Meeting in Metz, France, with 22.65.
In Madrid, Torrie, who is making her debut this season indoors, having never run indoors before, will compete against some of the world's best sprinters in the 60m in what promises to be one of the most eagerly awaited events of this year's edition, on her way to the World Championships in Nanjing at the end of March.
