The world shot put champion will throw in Madrid

Chase Jackson, a two-time World Champion (Oregon 2022 and Budapest 2023) in shot put, will face the best in her discipline in the final of the World Athletics Indoor Tour, which will be held in Madrid on February 28, a world-class event that brings together the best athletes on the planet and promises to give us unique moments in Gallur.

American shot putter Chase Jackson, a two-time World Champion and national record holder, is set to wow everyone on the track in Gallur. Jackson claimed the World Champion title for the first time in Oregon 2022 with an impressive throw of 20.49m and in 2023 in the Hungarian capital of Budapest, she successfully defended her title, achieving a best throw of 20.43m. This year she is set to go for her third consecutive outdoor title at the World Championships in Tokyo in mid-September, where she will face the best throwers on the planet once again.

In Madrid, Jackson will face Canadian Sarah Mitton as her biggest rival, in a duel that promises to be electrifying. The rivalry between the two athletes will give a great boost to a shot put event that has always stood out for its high level at the WIT Madrid, with the presence of internationally renowned athletes. Mitton won the world indoor title in Glasgow 2024 where Jackson was third and two years earlier in Belgrade she won the silver medal. Of the 34 direct confrontations between them, Jackson has emerged victorious on 24 occasions, which adds an extra level of excitement to this eagerly awaited confrontation.

The Madrid Meeting will not only be a great prelude to the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing at the end of March, where Mitton will defend her gold and Jackson her bronze, but it will also be an opportunity to see an athlete who has thrown over 20 metres on as many as 18 occasions throughout her career. In addition, Chase holds the US national record with an impressive mark of 20.76 m achieved in 2023, and made her Olympic debut in Paris last year.
