Tuğba Danişmaz, first athlete confirmed for WIT Madrid 2025

Vice European triple jump champion, Tuğba Danişmaz of Turkey, is the first athlete confirmed for the final of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold, the best indoor athletics circuit in the world, the final of which will be held in Madrid on February 28. This event will bring together the best athletes in the world for a day that promises to be unforgettable.

At 25 years old, the Turkish triple jumper soared to 14.57 m at the European Championships, which was a national record, and was only surpassed by Spain's Ana Peleteiro. Before this European silver medal, the triple jumper rose to stardom in 2023 when she was proclaimed European Short Track champion in Istanbul, in front of her home crowd. She already knew what it was like to stand on a European podium, having been proclaimed European U23 champion in 2021 and two years earlier, in 2019, U23 vice-champion.

Danişmaz's participation at the Madrid Meeting will highlight a triple jump event that has always had an excellent level at the WIT Madrid, with top-class participations that culminated in 2020 when Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas set the current world record of 15.43 m. The event will also offer fans the opportunity to see one of the best jumpers in Europe and the world take on her greatest rivals in a vibrant and exciting atmosphere in what will be the prelude to what awaits us in the next European short track event that will be held days later in the Dutch city of Apeldoorn.
