Bonevacia premieres in Gallur

The Dutch sprinter, Liemarvin Bonevacia, a world reference in the long relay and the 400 m, will debut in the final of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold, which will be held in Madrid on February 28, a world-class event that brings together the best athletes on the planet.

This event will mark Bonevacia’s first time competing on the Madrid indoor track, although he already made his mark at the WACT 2024 Madrid Meeting last year, where he competed in the 400m, finishing second in 45.07. Liemarvin Bonevacia is considered a legend in the 400m discipline, and his impressive track record backs him up. With a personal best in the short track of 45.48, a national record for his country, he ranks as the tenth best European athlete of all time in this distance. His career highlights include an Olympic silver in the 4x400m at Tokyo 2021, as well as sixth place in the Olympics with the Dutch mixed 4x400m team and eighth in the 400m at the same Games.

Bonevacia has also excelled in world competitions, finishing second in the mixed 4x400m World Championship in Oregon in 2022 and winning a bronze medal at the Glasgow 2024 World Indoor Championships in this same event. At European level, he has won individual outdoor bronze medals in the 400m at the 2024 Rome and 2016 Amsterdam European Championships, as well as a short track bronze at the 2017 Belgrade European Championships. He has also been crowned European relay champion in the 4x400m in Torun in 2021, as well as taking third place in Istanbul in 2023.

He will compete in Madrid with his sights set on the European Indoor Championships to be held in his country, in Apeldoorn starting on March 6, where Bonevacia already knows what it is like to compete and win national titles. In addition, this short track season includes the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing at the end of March, where he will seek to defend his third place in Glasgow with the mixed 4x400m.

His experience and determination make him an athlete to watch at WIT Madrid 2025, where fans will have the chance to witness his talent in action, as well as a unique spectacle at the world indoor athletics festival.
