Durante la celebración de la competición, se irán publicando diferentes declaraciones de los grandes protagonistas del WIT Gold Madrid 2025.
During the competition we will upload different statements of the big stars in the WIT Gold Madrid 2025.
Lázaro MARTÍNEZ (CUB). Triple jump. Men. 17.12m
All the current triple jumpers are in good shape nowadays. I include myself. The things are going well with the plan I have with my coach. We will have a good result at the Worlds in Nanjing. I was looking forward to break the 17 meters barrier and I achieved it. In this competition I also have beaten Zango, who beat me at the World Championship in Budapest.
Hugues Fabrice (BUR) Triple jump. 16.55m
«It has been tough, this was my first defeat in 5 years, but I am also happy because I knew that I was tired, with a lot of training load because I am preparing for the World Championships.
The secret to having the best mark in indoor track history is to have the desire to train, train and train, work on the mental part and have a good team, a good coach, a good physio, family and friends who support you and push you to be better. I have been working with a sports psychologist since 2019, with whom I share the goals, he gives me another perspective and makes me see that everything is possible»
Chase JACKSON EALY (USA). Shot put. Women. 19.48 m Winner of the WIT
«This is the best start of a season I ever had. The indoor tour is very challenging. Today wasn´t the result I wanted to have. The competition has been tough especially against Sarah Mitton. I´ve had an Indoor Tour Gold this season with several wins. Last Olympic Games in Paris weren’t what I expected, but that is past, and this is another season»
Adrián BEN (ESP). 800m. Men. 1:45.39 PB
«I came with a bit of nerves because it was the first 800 of the season, but the training showed that I was doing very well, and above all, I came with the confidence that the 800 comes much more naturally to me than the 1500. I have never said that I am going to dedicate myself 100% to the 1500, facing the outdoors, we will focus on where I feel most comfortable in, if I can get the qualifying score for both and I have to decide, we will decide. This indoors I have focused on the 1500 because I ended up a little tired of the 800. I come from being 4th in the world, and suddenly you see yourself so far away from the others, I was 3″ behind, so I wanted a new challenge, and the 1500 was an old friend, that friend that never disappears, and is compatible with the 800»
Anita HORVAT (SLO). 800m Women. 2:00.35 PB
«It was a very fast race. The two African runners were very fast and I followed them until I reached and surpassed them. I feel confident for Apeldoorn. I will be fighting for a medal there. I have been training in Lanzarote for this season given the good conditions there»
Sarah MITTON (CAN) Shot Put. 19.37.
«I expected a lot more from myself at the WIT. I’ve been throwing much better than what was reflected out there, and I felt a bit off technically. I’m grateful to have finished second, but I had three throws under 20m, so I’m a bit disappointed with how it turned out.
For the World Championships, there are four women throwing over 20m, which shows that anything can happen on the day. This competition really gave me the perspective that if you truly want to be on top, you have to be at your best at all times.»
Brian FAUST (USA) 400m Men 45.74. Winner of the WIT.
«It has been a season of ups and downs. At this moment of the season I have had just a few trainings, having competed just in two occasions. My main goal this season is the World Championships, to be back there. We are looking to have a good result there, maybe a medal. I didn’t do well at nationals before coming here and so it was awesome to qualify for the World Championships here»
Molly CAUDERIE (GRB) Pole Vault. 4.85m.
«That was such an amazing competition, I had so much fun! The crowd was incredible, the track was fast, and I absolutely loved the music.
For the World Championships, I’d love to retain my title. I’ve also never competed in the European Indoor Championships, so I’d love to add that title to my resume as well. I know I’m in great shape; I just need to bring everything together.
Samuel PHILSTRÖM (SWE). 1500m Men. 3:39.85 Winner of the WIT
«I had great consistency during the World Indoor Tour, but today a less good performance, I was slow in the middle part of the race. There are small margins among all the competitors: for example, at the Europeans I could be at the Top 5 or not reach the final. It will be tough at that competition. The WIT has been a good training for me on my preparation for both the European and World Championships»
Leyanis PEREZ (CUB) Triple Jump. 14.42m
«I came to make a jump that would position me above the other competitors. I achieved the result, which was the most important thing, and to save energy for the World Championships, we decided to forgo the last three jumps.
For the World Championships, my goal is to improve my personal indoor best of 14.90m. This competition has given me confidence, and I’m ready for whatever comes next.»
Patrizia VAN DER WEKEN (LUX) 60m Women 7.09. Winner of WIT
«Winning was not my main goal. I wanted to beat national record. I wanted to check how things could go. If possible, reach my PB. I believe I am in a good moment now. I am really happy to represent my small country and put it on the map. For example, it was great to be the flagbearer at the closing ceremony in the Paris Olympics»
Wilhelm BELOCIAN (FRA) 60m hurdles. Winner of WIT
«On the one hand, I’m very happy to have won the WIT, but on the other, I’m frustrated because I came here to win the race. This is my first big win (the WIT) before the European and World Championships, but I’m frustrated with the time I ran. I was hoping to break the 7.50-second barrier again. Now I need to rest and prepare for the European Championship—I’ll train for two days, a third with the French team, and the work will be done».
Quique LLOPIS (ESP) 60 m hurdles. Men. 7.48 NR tied.
«My goal now is just to maintain my good shape. This was just a test in before of the European Championships, I´m eager to win a medal there. Breaking the national record is not an obsession. Now I hope to remain at the World top level»
